J. Scott Ferguson, MD, is a UW Health pulmonary and critical care medicine doctor and a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for patients with lung disease and breathing disorders. Dr. Ferguson diagnoses and treats a wide range of lung conditions, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema (shortness of breath) and asthma. He has a special clinical interest in lung cancer and tumors. Dr. Ferguson believes in helping each patient feel better, focusing on disease management to enhance their overall health, comfort and quality of life. He takes a team approach to care, ensuring that patients understand their treatment options and feel empowered to make decisions about their health care. In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Ferguson serves as director of the Interventional Pulmonary Program and Fellowship in the Department of Medicine. He also conducts research to find new diagnostic methods and treatment options for lung cancer and COPD. In his free time, Dr. Ferguson enjoys spending time outdoors and photographing landscapes and wildlife. The best part of my work is giving a patient hope.
