Amgad Hanna, MD, is a UW Health neurosurgeon. He’s also a professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Hanna diagnoses and treats disorders of the spine and peripheral nerves (the part of the nervous system that lies outside the brain and spinal cord). These issues include pinched nerves, genetic conditions that cause non-cancerous nervous system tumors and damaged nerves near the neck and shoulder. He also sees patients with other trauma or sports-related nerve and spine injuries. Dr. Hanna has extensive experience in peripheral nerve surgery. He performs biopsies, removes tumors and surgically repairs various nerve problems throughout the body. As a leading expert in his field, Dr. Hanna strives to provide state-of-the-art care. He collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to address his patients’ physical and emotional needs. He takes the time to listen to his patients’ concerns and works with them to create tailored treatment plans. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hanna researches nerve regeneration and new treatments to improve recovery after spinal cord injuries. In his free time, Dr. Hanna enjoys playing soccer. I’m dedicated to finding a cure for each of my patients.
