Andrew Watson, MD

Acerca de

Andrew (Drew) Watson, MD, is a UW Health sports medicine doctor who specializes in non-surgical orthopedics. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Watson treats patients of all ages who have orthopedic conditions (those involving bones, joints and muscles) that do not require surgery. His clinical focus is helping his active and athletic patients manage bone and muscle conditions that affect their physical abilities.

Dr. Watson believes strongly in working together with his patients to create a care plan. He strives to understand his patients’ goals and both the physical and mental impacts of their injury. His goal is to help his patients return to the activities and athletics they enjoy, boosting their whole-body health and helping them live more rewarding lives.

In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Watson serves as a team physician for the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department providing medical coverage to the Badger’s. He also researches injury risk factors for athletes and the mental health impact of those injuries.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Watson runs ultramarathons with distances of 100 to 200 miles.

The most rewarding part of my job is helping someone return to a physical activity they enjoy.
