Anne Eglash, MD, is a UW Health family medicine doctor who specializes in breastfeeding medicine. She is also a clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the medical director of the UW Health Outpatient Lactation Program. Dr. Eglash works with families to help them successfully breastfeed. Dr. Eglash provides education and treats issues related to low milk production, breast pain, infant fussiness and problems with infants latching onto the breast. She performs patient and newborn exams and screens patients for post-partum mood and anxiety disorders that can impact the ability to breastfeed. She also works with families who are adding a child through adoption or surrogacy and would like to induce lactation. Dr. Eglash encourages her patients to bring family members and other supportive partners to their office appointments. She asks questions to learn about their goals and pregnancy and breastfeeding experiences. She then personalizes care based on their unique needs and desires. In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Eglash researches ways health care systems can support breastfeeding initiatives. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Eglash enjoys salsa dancing, knitting, reading and cooking. The most rewarding part of my job is helping families breastfeed successfully.
