Acerca de

Beth Smith, MD, is a UW Health Kids NICU hospitalist. She’s also a clinical associate professor n the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Smith cares for babies who are born with a complex medical problem or who require surgery, including abdominal, genitourinary, head and neck, thoracic, heart and vascular. She also supports families during this timesharing information and resources that prepare them to care for their newborn as they begin the next chapter in their lives.

Taking the time to listen, Dr. Smith collaborates with families to create a care plan that incorporates their unique needs and preferences.

Dr. Smith appreciates being a part of a collaborative team, which includes lactation (breast feeding) consultants, nurses, therapists and technologists. She feels that newborns and their families benefit from UW Health’s supportive environment.

Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with friends and family, cheering for her kids at swim meets, playing the violin with her daughter, being in nature and traveling.

I find it rewarding to help newborns and their families thrive in the first days of life.
