Carisa Baker, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner in pediatric surgery. She sees children of all ages who need medical care or surgery for various injuries and illnesses.
Her patients include babies in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She also treats children and teens with chronic conditions or complex diseases affecting the chest, lungs or abdomen. She develops personalized treatment plans and provides pre- and post-operative care for surgery patients.
Working alongside surgeons, nurses, child life specialists and other experts, Carisa guides patients, families and caregivers through treatment and changing care needs. She addresses their questions and concerns and offers personalized support. She follows her patients’ care closely to ensure a smooth and healthy recovery.
In her free time, Carisa enjoys hiking, running, kayaking and spending time outdoors.
I love helping patients and families. Kids are so resilient, and that helps parents and families to stay positive throughout an illness or an injury.
