Daniel Painter, MD, is a UW Health physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor (physiatrist). Dr. Painter provides non-surgical care for people with musculoskeletal conditions affecting the bones, joints and muscles. He has experience treating individuals with various types of arthritis, bone fracture, tendonitis (swelling of the tissues that attach muscle to bone) and carpal tunnel syndrome (overuse injury of the hand and wrist). Dr. Painter performs therapeutic injections and ultrasound-guided interventions. He has special clinical interests in sports medicine and electrodiagnostic testing (nerve studies).  He explains that choosing to enter the medical profession enables him to help others and positively impact his community. He says it is also a mentally challenging career. Dr. Painter became a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor because he says providers within the specialization take a holistic, team-based approach to treatment. He encourages his patients to take a proactive role in their health care and to share in health decision-making.  Outside of work, Dr. Painter enjoys strength training, golfing, watching movies with his family and reading fantasy fiction. My job can be a challenge treating chronic health conditions, but it is also rewarding by helping patients’ lives a little easier by improving their overall function.
