Erick Tarula, MD, is a UW Health neurologist specializing in neurocritical care. He’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.    Dr. Tarula treats patients with emergency neurologic conditions, such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, severe neuromuscular diseases, epilepsy and seizures. He has a special interest in treating strokes, bleeding around the brain, seizures that won’t stop and traumatic brain injury. Because of the nature of neurological emergencies, Dr. Tarula works closely with the families of his patients. With compassion and empathy, he educates them about the patient’s condition and treatment options. He then partners with them to make health care decisions that are best suited to the needs and values of the patient.  Dr. Tarula is actively involved in both local and national research, focusing on stroke, stem cells and medical education.  Outside of work, Dr. Tarula enjoys spending time with his son, traveling internationally, working on his truck and doing projects around the house. Through compassion and education, I strive to bring patients and families comfort during a difficult time.
