Acerca de

J. Carter Ralphe, MD, is a pediatric cardiologist at UW Health where he serves as the co-director of UW Health’s Pediatric Heart Program. Dr. Ralphe treats infants, children and teens with heart defects and cardiac conditions. Helping children achieve their full potential and live healthy lives is the reason Dr. Ralphe entered pediatrics. He works with children and their parents to help them understand the heart issues they face and the care and tools they need to thrive.

In addition to his clinical practice, he is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Heatlh where he is the chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. His research looks at the genetic causes of hypertonic cardiomyopathy – a condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick. Using 3D-engineered cardiac tissue models, Dr. Ralphe and his team study gene mutations in the heart muscle. They hope to develop ways to predict disease progression and identify therapies to reverse or prevent disease symptoms.
