About
JoEllen Kozlowski, PhD, is a UW Health health psychologist. She provides mental health care to patients with a variety of health conditions and related challenges. These changes can range from adjusting to an injury or disability to managing a new diagnosis or chronic disease such as diabetes or cancer.
As a health psychologist, JoEllen helps people manage the emotional side of a new medical diagnosis or condition. Understanding that changes in physical health can impact a person’s lifestyle and mental health, JoEllen works with patients to help them understand that they can still lead a full and meaningful life.
Using a holistic approach, JoEllen partners with her patients and looks at how their medical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects contribute to who they are as a person. She works at a pace that is comfortable for her patients and communicates frequently with other specialists, including referring providers, to achieve treatment goals.
In addition to her clinical work, JoEllen serves as a UW Health supervisor and supports other health psychologists and their practices.
In her free time, JoEllen enjoys spending time in nature — snowshoeing, kayaking, hiking, camping and taking long walks with her partner and their dogs.
l love to meet people, hear their stories and help them focus on what's important in their lives. When they turn that corner and realize they can still live a really, big life, it’s quite powerful.
