John Stratton, PhD

John Stratton, PhD, is a UW Health neuropsychologist. He earned his degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Stratton is interested in the effects of cognitive functioning on the ability to adhere to treatment planning following surgery and organ/stem cell transplantation. He performs neuropsychological evaluations prior to these interventions in order to assist the treatment team in understanding whether cognitive and/or psychiatric symptoms will interfere with post-intervention care (e.g., remembering appointments and complex medication regimens). Occasionally, he addresses questions regarding capacity to consent to these procedures, when they arise.

His practice focuses on the following populations:

• Bariatrics

• Organ transplants (including heart, lung, kidney and liver transplants)

• Hematopoietic stem cell transplants

John also has interests in traumatic brain injury and staffs an adult TBI assessment clinic. He evaluates the cognitive status of those experiencing mild TBIs with the aims of establishing a post-injury baseline, assisting with treatment planning and providing education regarding injury severity and cognitive prognosis. He also assesses individuals with moderate to severe injuries to address ongoing supervision/care needs, accommodations related to level of functioning and current interventions and the need for additional services.
