Jon Pennycuff, MD, is a UW Health urogynecologist and pelvic reconstructive surgeon and an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for people with a full range of pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Pennycuff commonly diagnoses and treats pelvic organ prolapse (a condition that creates a bulge or heavy feeling in the vaginal area), urinary incontinence (involuntary urine leakage) and fecal incontinence (involuntary stool leakage). He also treats trauma caused by childbirth and sexual dysfunction such as pain or other difficulties during sex. Dr. Pennycuff stresses that not every patient needs surgery to repair their condition. Treatment is not one size fits all. He offers both surgical and nonsurgical options to fit his patients’ needs and improve their comfort and quality of life. Understanding that many people are embarrassed to talk about their symptoms, Dr. Pennycuff strives to create a space where patients feel comfortable talking with him openly and confidentially. With compassion and discretion, he listens carefully to their concerns and partners with them to create their optimal care plan. When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Pennycuff enjoys cooking, traveling, collecting art and visiting museums. I encourage my patients to talk openly. It’s incredibly important that we’re on the same page.
