Jonathan Swanson, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric radiologist. He’s also a professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Swanson performs and reviews imaging tests for children who have pediatric diseases. He regularly conducts CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds and X-rays. Dr. Swanson also reviews swallow studies to help diagnose gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. He provides imaging reports to the patient’s doctor to help them diagnose health conditions or monitor treatment.  Dr. Swanson has a special clinical interest in using chest CT scans, particularly to help diagnose pulmonary (lung) disease in kids. He chose pediatric radiology as his specialty because it allows him to work with families, kids and other pediatric specialty providers. Dr. Swanson enjoys the variety of radiology and the ability to be part of kids’ care teams.  Outside of work, Dr. Swanson enjoys playing tennis, skiing, hiking and traveling. It’s vital to be on the same page with families. I work to truly understand where they’re coming from, what their expectations are and what they’re seeking to learn from the test.
