Acerca de

Meeghan Lautner, MD, FACS, is a UW Health breast surgeon and an associate professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She specializes in breast surgery for cancerous and noncancerous conditions.

Dr. Lautner works with adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who have various breast diseases. She performs a range of surgical procedures, including axillary lymph node dissections (removal of armpit lymph nodes), core needle biopsies (tissue sample collection), lumpectomies (lump removed from breast), mastectomies (breast removed), nipple-sparing breast surgeries and minimally invasive (small surgical cuts) surgeries.

Dr. Lautner uses shared decision-making with her patients to achieve the best outcomes. She asks questions and listens carefully to identify care challenges, then offers resources that will make the treatment process successful. She encourages patients to actively participate in their care, expressing their preferences and how they want their bodies to look and feel during and after treatment.

In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Lautner participates in clinical trial recruitment and conducts research on patient care and how to support members of the breast cancer care team.

In her free time, Dr. Lautner enjoys gardening, traveling and hiking.

It’s an honor to be part of a patient’s journey, from diagnosis to treatment, and to see their strength.
