Mikyung Lee, MD, is a UW Health infectious disease doctor. She’s also a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Lee diagnoses and treats patients with challenging infections and weakened immune systems. Their infections include pneumonia, COVID-19, hepatitis, fungal infections, meningitis and other complex diseases. She also treats people with HIV and manages their long-term care. (HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus, attacks cells in the body that fight infection.) As an infectious disease physician, Dr. Lee sees patients in both the hospital and outpatient clinic. She treats illnesses that spread throughout the community and those that develop as complications from other medical conditions. When meeting with patients, Dr. Lee listens to their concerns and answers questions. She educates them about their treatment options and works to create care plans that they can balance in their busy lives. Whether they choose oral medications, hospital treatments or another option, her goal is to help patients take control of their health and well-being. During her free time, Dr. Lee enjoys hiking and exploring Wisconsin. My hope is that I can help people recover from their illnesses, feel better and move forward with living their lives.
