Pete Newcomer, MD, is an internal medicine doctor at UW Health where he also serves as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Dr. Newcomer provides preventive care and treats complex medical problems in adult patients. His main interest is primary care and keeping his patients as healthy as possible.  Dr. Newcomer feels strongly about having a partnership with his patients. Getting to know them and their families helps him more efficiently diagnose and treat health problems that may arise. He also serves as the connection between his patients and innovative technology methods that are becoming more prevalent in health care. When developing treatment plans, Dr. Newcomer gives his patients a variety of options. He prefers to work together to determine which plan works best for the patient and their family. Dr. Newcomer advocates for his patients as they navigate the health care system. He is happy to help patients understand the care they receive in another part of the UW Health system. In addition to his clinical practice and leadership roles, Dr. Newcomer is a clinical professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine.  Dr. Newcomer’s main goals for his patients are to prevent disease and make them healthier. The most rewarding thing about my job is learning from my patients. They teach me every day about how to be a better person, how to raise a family and how to live a fulfilling life.
