Samantha Tyler, DO — or Dr. Sammi as she is known to her patients — is a UW Health Kids hospitalist and integrative health doctor. She’s also a clinical instructor in the Division of Neonatology and Newborn Nursery within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Tyler cares for premature or critically ill infants in the intensive care unit. She also helps families during difficult deliveries. In her role as an integrative health doctor, she specializes in osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), or the use of gentle hands-on manipulation to help optimize the structure and therefore the function of the body to provide whole-person care. This hands-on approach helps to identify and heal problems with bones, joints, muscles, nerve function and blood flow. Dr. Tyler is especially passionate about applying OMM to help babies breastfeed and children develop appropriately. Dr. Tyler strives to improve her patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual health by helping them find meaning and joy in stressful moments. Recognizing that people know themselves best, she partners with patients and their families to create care plans that reflect their goals. Through support and education, she empowers her patients to lead healthy, happy lives. In her free time, Dr. Tyler enjoys yoga, traveling and exploring the world through food. I hope that each of my patients feels heard, supported and loved.
