Sarah Train, MD, PharmD

Sarah Train, MD, PharmD, is a UW Health pulmonary and critical care medicine doctor and an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Train treats a wide range of pulmonary (lung) conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis (genetic disorder causing organ damage) and interstitial lung disease (lung tissue scarring). Dr. Train also cares for critically ill patients who are hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe lung conditions such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Using a team approach to patient care, Dr. Train takes time to learn about her patients’ home life to personalize care and find the best solutions that fit their needs. She explains conditions in simple terms and provides education to empower patients to make informed decisions about their care.

In addition to clinical care and teaching, Dr. Train conducts research to advance diagnosis and care for people with lung disease. Her studies focus on assessing and managing life-threatening sepsis infections and compliance with related procedures in the ICU.

In her free time, Dr. Train enjoys exploring the region with her husband, daughter and their family dog.
