Tamahra Baines, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner who specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry. Tamahra diagnoses and treats a wide variety of mental health conditions in children of all ages.

Tamahra cares for kids with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and other conditions. She has a special interest in autism and other neurological differences that can affect the brain, nerves and nervous system.

Taking a holistic approach, Tamahra provides comprehensive evaluation and collaborative care. Before discussing treatment options, she listens to the concerns and goals of patients and their families and caregivers. She considers varied personal and lifestyle challenges. These can range from sleep, diet and nutrition habits to school or relationship issues and coping mechanisms.

Tamahra combines her developmental pediatrics, child neurology and child psychiatry expertise with a heart for kids and a desire to improve their lives. In addition to behavioral therapies and guidance, Tamahra may prescribe medication if indicated for certain symptoms or conditions. She talks about potential benefits and risks with a focus on achieving the best possible results.

Outside of work, Tamahra enjoys Wisconsin sports, including the Green Bay Packers, UW Badgers football, Admirals hockey, Brewers baseball, and Bucks and Badgers basketball.

I became a nurse practitioner to make a difference in the lives of my patients and their families.
