Thomas Wodushek, PhD, is a UW Health clinical neuropsychologist. He’s also a clinical professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. As a neuropsychologist, Thomas cares for people with adult-onset cognitive (brain) disorders. These problems start later in life and affect a person’s ability to think, learn, remember, use judgment and make decisions. Some of Thomas’s patients have medical conditions that impact how the brain works, such as Alzheimer’s disease, a traumatic brain injury, epilepsy or another issue. Through conversation and testing, Thomas evaluates each patient’s strengths and weaknesses in several areas, including memory, attention, thinking and speech. He also tries to pinpoint what’s causing their thinking problems. After his evaluation, Thomas helps people understand how their disorder may impact their daily activities and interactions with others. He teaches them ways to improve their thinking skills and manage their difficulties. His goal is to help patients function as well as possible and enjoy life. I hope to teach people with cognitive disorders to improve their thinking skills and manage difficulties in day-to-day life.
