Gerald Pankratz, MD, is a geriatrician at UW Health. He treats conditions affecting patients aged 65 and older. He cares for patients with dementia, osteoporosis, diabetes, balance disorders and other conditions.
Dr. Pankratz diagnoses symptoms, discusses treatment options and reviews medications for possible drug interactions. In addition to treating and managing chronic disease, Dr. Pankratz addresses common age-related challenges such as frailty, muscle weakness and hearing loss.
Dr. Pankratz has a special interest in balance problems and other issues that increase fall and injury risk. Dr. Pankratz works with patients, families, caregivers and a team of physical therapists and specialists to help patients stay as safe, active and fit as possible. His goal is to help his elderly patients enjoy a good quality of life for as long as possible.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pankratz is a clinical assistant professor of in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine.
In his free time, Dr. Pankratz enjoys exercise and physical activity, including running in organized races in the Wisconsin area.
It’s rewarding to identify potential problems and intervene so they either don't occur or they're much easier to manage.
