Rachna Tiwari, MBBS, is a UW Health Kids pediatric sleep medicine doctor. She also is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. 

Dr. Tiwari treats patients from birth through age 21 with sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm) disorders. Some of these disorders include sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and parasomnias (unusual behavior during sleep). She has a special interest in treating kids with obstructive sleep apnea (when a blockage of the airway disrupts breathing during sleep). 

When diagnosing or treating a sleep disorder, Dr. Tiwari believes that input from the patient and their family is a vital part of the process. She gets a detailed sleep history in addition to performing a thorough physical examination. Dr. Tiwari educates families about treatment options, partners with them to make medical decisions, and uses their ongoing feedback to guide care.  

Outside of work, Dr. Tiwari enjoys spending time with family and singing — she has even recorded multiple music videos. I find it imperative to listen carefully to my patients and their families.
