Alexandra Erdmann, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric cardiologist. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Erdmann cares for children of all ages who have heart conditions. She provides long-term heart care and performs interventional heart procedures. She has a special interest in treating premature infants with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which is a condition you are born with (congenital) that causes blood flow problems between the heart and lungs. Dr. Erdmann is also involved with the UW Health Transplant Program.
Dr. Erdmann builds strong relationships by listening carefully and partnering with families to create highly personalized care plans. She strives to serve as a constant source of comfort and support to patients and families throughout their journey.
Dr. Erdmann’s research focuses on determining early risk for coronary artery disease in people who have undergone repair for coarctation of the aorta. This narrowing of the main artery causes the heart to work harder.
Outside of work, Dr. Erdmann enjoys running, cooking, going to farmer’s markets, attending football games and traveling internationally.
I want families to know that whatever challenge they or their child face, I will face it with them, and we’ll get through it together.
