Ali Pirasteh, MD, is a UW Health radiologist who specializes in nuclear medicine and abdominal imaging. He’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Pirasteh interprets medical imaging of various body parts, with a special interest and expertise in abdominal and pelvic imaging. His interpretations are used to support doctors in diagnosing, treating and monitoring multiple health conditions.
He has a special focus in positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and combination PET/MRI. Additionally, Dr. Pirasteh provides nuclear medicine therapy, a type of cancer treatment injection that targets the disease, such as tumor cells, with direct radiation.
Happy to be a part of the UW Health team, Dr. Pirasteh appreciates the rather unique access UW Health provides to the PET/MRI program. By combining these two technologies, patients often save time and money by essentially receiving two scans at once, allowing both doctors and patients to benefit from the superior imaging results.
Dr. Pirasteh conducts research that focuses on using the PET/MRI technology to diagnose a range of conditions, including cancer, liver disease and chronic pain.
I find it rewarding to be in service to others on a daily basis.
