About
Amy Wedel-Akers, OT, is a UW Health Kids pediatric occupational therapist. Amy offers a variety of therapies for babies and children. She evaluates and treats children who have ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and other conditions that affect healthy development. She also cares for children with diseases, like cerebral palsy, that make it difficult to move and function well.
Amy evaluates developmental delays and sensory processing differences. These differences affect how children respond to information from their senses, such as hearing, touching and tasting. She also treats feeding disorders in newborns.
Her main treatment goal is to improve children’s quality of life. She addresses self-care limitations that can affect her patients’ independence as they grow. She guides children and families based on their challenges, needs and motivations.
In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, creating and being outdoors.
I motivate and engage children in therapy. I enjoy connecting with and supporting them so they can live life to the fullest.
