Brian Grogan, MD, is a UW Health orthopedic surgeon. He diagnoses and treats injuries and disorders that affect muscles, bones and joints. He is also an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Grogan has advanced, fellowship-level training in shoulder and elbow surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Grogan treats people who have conditions that affect their ability to play, work and function. He listens to his patients’ concerns. He offers surgical and nonsurgical treatment options to relieve pain and restore function. Nonsurgical options can include physical therapy, medications or injections. Dr. Grogan may also recommend lifestyle changes to manage symptoms and prevent further injury. Dr. Grogan specializes in throwing and repetitive-stress injuries that are common in overhead sports. He has expertise in arthroscopic surgery and shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Grogan works with athletic trainers, physical therapists, rehabilitation experts, radiologists and other specialists to offer comprehensive care. In addition to treating patients, Dr. Grogan works with research teams to find improved ways to prevent, diagnose and treat shoulder problems. Outside of work, Dr. Grogan enjoys spending time with his family and year-round bicycling. I love hearing patients tell me how they have been able to return to activities they find meaningful.  Orthopedic surgery can dramatically change a patient's life for the better.
