David Deutsch, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric gastroenterologist. Dr. Deutsch diagnoses and treats children with digestive conditions — problems with the way the body processes food. These conditions include acid reflux, abdominal pain, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, liver disease, celiac disease, constipation, chronic diarrhea and lack of bladder control. As needed, Dr. Deutsch performs procedures and tests to diagnose his patients’ conditions. He checks the function of the esophagus (the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach), stomach, intestines, liver or other digestive organs. He uses various methods to treat the issue and help his patients get proper nutrition. When meeting with patients and families, Dr. Deutsch listens to their concerns. He explains each patient’s medical condition and outlines treatment options. Together, they create a care plan that the patient can follow. Dr. Deutsch works together with families to manage his patients’ disorders, reduce pain and help them lead high-quality lives. During his free time, Dr. Deutsch enjoys sports, tennis, biking and basketball. He also loves to cook and try new recipes. I enjoy meeting children and their families. We work together to help the child live a high-quality life without pain and discomfort.
