Eric Swanson, PA, is a UW Health physician assistant. He cares for critically ill patients who have been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease (affecting the heart or blood vessels). Eric helps people suffering from conditions such as heart attack, heart failure, pulmonary embolism (a blood clot affecting an artery in the lung) or arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat).
As part of a multispecialty team, Eric treats patients receiving high-level care in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU). He evaluates patients, assesses their conditions and monitors their care, including prescription medications and other treatments.
Eric’s experience as a respiratory therapist and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) specialist motivated him to become a cardiovascular PA. He enjoyed having the opportunity to help critically ill people and wanted to advance his skills and contributions in this area.
