Fred Lee Jr., MD, is a UW Health radiologist. He’s also a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Radiology. Dr. Lee specializes in diagnosing and treating people who have diseases in the chest, abdomen and pelvis.
Using advanced imaging techniques to see inside the body, Dr. Lee performs biopsies (to examine tissues and cells) and ablations (to remove tumors or abnormal tissue). He also performs other minimally invasive procedures that allow patients to recover quickly, with less pain and fewer side effects.
Dr. Lee strives to accurately diagnose his patients and quickly guide them to the most effective treatments available. His expert techniques offer lifesaving options for people with cancer who cannot tolerate more invasive treatments due to other medical issues, such as heart and lung disease.
With a passion for improving patient care, Dr. Lee researches and tests the best ways to destroy tumors and cancer cells including microwave, heat and other ablation techniques. He and his colleagues have also invented devices to perform these procedures.
During his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys international travel, Asian food and biking.
It’s rewarding to treat people with cancer using high-tech devices we invent in our laboratory and send them home without side effects or pain.
