Dr. Gimelli completed his Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and went on to complete an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was an Interventional Cardiologist at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy, from 1999 to June 2001, when he joined the Cardiovascular Division at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
He specializes in complex coronary, structural and valvular heart interventions.
Dr. Gimelli is Director of the Interventional Cardiology Section, of the Adult Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and of the UW Transcatheter Valve Replacement Program.
He currently conducts cardiovascular clinical trials for catheter-delivered therapies in structural and valvular heart disease.
