Gregory McGovern, MD, is a UW Health general surgeon. He provides surgical care for patients with a range of abdominal and gastrointestinal (GI) disorders.
Dr. McGovern performs noninvasive, robotic (small incisions done guiding a robot) surgeries to treat many bowel diseases and abdominal conditions. He provides surgical treatment for gallbladder disease, hernias (protruding tissues), appendicitis (inflamed appendix), lipomas (fatty lumps), skin cysts (fluid pockets) and masses.
Dr. McGovern believes open communication is the foundation of a strong patient-provider partnership. He takes time to educate patients about the disease process and their surgical options to help them choose the best treatment plan for their specific needs and goals. Dr. McGovern enjoys staying current on the latest technology and procedures and sharing his knowledge and expertise with his patients.
In his free time, Dr. McGovern enjoys golfing, following college sports, traveling and spending time with his family.
My patient care philosophy is to educate patients about their surgical issues and provide them with an optimal treatment strategy.
