James Gentry, MD, is a UW Health anesthesiologist and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He provides anesthesia care for people before, during and after they undergo medical procedures.
Dr. Gentry has special clinical interests in ambulatory care (same-day procedures), cancer care, pain management for acute (occurring suddenly) conditions and trauma. Dr. Gentry is also involved in resident and medical student education and runs a monthly introductory anesthesia course for interns.
He speaks English and medical Spanish, which allows him to provide health care services to more people.
Outside of work, Dr. Gentry enjoys coaching fast-pitch softball, watching his son play soccer and spending time with his family.
I’m interested in helping my patients safely wade through the challenging waters that surround surgical care.
