Jeffrey O'Donnell, MD

Jeffrey O'Donnell, MD, is a UW Health orthopedic surgeon. He specializes in hip and knee replacement procedures. He’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. O'Donnell treats patients with hip and knee pain. This can result from arthritis-related wear and tear on joints. He treats other conditions affecting bones, muscles, joints and soft tissues. He also treats pain or complications from previous hip and knee replacements.

When meeting with patients, Dr. O’Donnell considers their lifestyle and treatment goals. He offers surgical and nonsurgical treatment options. Treatments could include physical therapy, medication and injections for pain relief.

Dr. O’Donnell has advanced expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic and computer-assisted surgery. If other approaches don’t relieve pain, he might recommend partial or total knee or hip replacement.

Dr. O'Donnell has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His research has been presented at national and international meetings. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
