Jerry Yan, MD, is a UW Health cardiologist. Dr. Yan diagnoses and treats patients with all types of heart defects and diseases. These conditions include coronary artery disease (plaque buildup in the wall of the arteries), heart failure (the heart doesn’t pump blood as well as it should), valvular heart disease (the heart valves don’t open and close properly), atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) and venous insufficiency (the veins don’t circulate blood properly).
When treating his patients, Dr. Yan uses a wide variety of imaging tests, tools and minimally invasive techniques to study the health of their hearts and arteries. He examines each person’s heart structure and function and checks for electrical abnormalities. His goal is to identify and treat their heart trouble and reduce their need to spend time in the hospital.
With a special interest in preventive cardiology, Dr. Yan also works to reduce his patients’ risk for future heart attacks and strokes. He helps them live healthy, productive lives.
