John Kaminski, MD, is a UW Health cardiologist. He cares for people with problems with their heart’s electrical system. He regularly treats patients with atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, types of irregular heartbeats affecting the top of the heart’s chambers. Dr. Kaminski also sees patients with tachycardia (fast heartbeat), bradycardia (slow heartbeat) and ventricular fibrillation (very fast heart rhythm that doesn’t allow the heart to pump blood).
He treats patients with sudden cardiac arrest (when the heart suddenly stops beating), premature ventricular contractions (extra beats from the bottom chambers of the heart) and premature atrial contractions (extra beats from the top chambers of the heart). Dr. Kaminski also sees patients with genetic disorders that affect the electrical system of the heart, including long QT syndrome (causes sudden irregular heartbeats) and Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome (having an extra electrical pathway in the heart).
Dr. Kaminski believes in practicing shared decision-making with his patients. He provides them with information and guides them through treatment plan options so they can make the decision that best fits their lifestyle.
I became a doctor to save lives and empower patients to take control of their health.
