Joshua Ross, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric emergency doctor and chief medical officer, American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Health Kids. He’s also a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for kids facing a wide range of critical injuries and illnesses caused by disease, trauma or infections.
Dr. Ross emphasizes the importance of teamwork in pediatric emergency care. He works closely with his dedicated team of experts to provide the medical and psychosocial care patients and families need.
Dr. Ross understands that a trip to the Emergency Department can be stressful. He meets patients and families exactly where they are, listens to their concerns and offers support when they need it most. For him, medicine is about more than treating illnesses; it’s also about helping children feel better and giving their families peace of mind.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ross conducts research on injury recognition and care transitions for pediatric trauma patients.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Ross enjoys traveling with his family and staying involved in the Madison community.
It’s rewarding to be there for families during some of their most difficult moments. Delivering lifesaving treatments with reassurance and support is a privilege.
