Karen Dyer, MD

  • Pediatric Hospitalist

Karen Dyer, MD, is a UW Health pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Dyer provides care for babies and children spending time in the hospital. She’s experienced in caring for children with lung problems like bronchitis (swelling of the airways), asthma (narrowing of the airways) and pneumonia (infection). Dr. Dyer also regularly sees babies and children with various types of infections.

She feels privileged to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to children and families during what is very often a difficult and scary time in their lives. Dr. Dyer takes as much time as needed with each patient and family to explain the health condition and treatment options and answer any questions. She’s passionate about inclusive medical care.

Dr. Dyer speaks fluent English and Jamaican Patois, as well as basic Spanish. Her language skills allow her to care for people from a wider range of backgrounds.

Outside of work, Dr. Dyer enjoys staying fit and active. As a self-proclaimed “plant whisperer,” her home is filled with tropical plants as she tries to bring a bit of her Caribbean homeland to the Midwest.

'Joy' is my favorite word, and I hope that I’m able to spread joy to those I come into contact with.
