  • Speech Language Pathology

Kathryn Ernest, MS, CCC-SLP, is a UW Health speech-language pathologist. She evaluates and treats patients with various speech, swallowing and communication disorders. These include stuttering and other challenges that keep a person from communicating clearly. She also helps patients with cognitive (thought processing) disorders and trouble understanding others.

Kathryn’s specialties include treating swallowing disorders and throat conditions, such as polyps and other lumps or growths. These structural disorders can affect speech, vocal sounds and other functions. She also treats paralysis, paresis (partial loss of muscle function), vocal tremor, muscle fatigue and voice-muscle spasms. Kathryn offers gender-affirming voice care as well.

With her holistic approach to care, she applies science-supported therapies to improve communication and other concerns. Kathryn focuses on enhancing her patients’ independence and quality of life.

In her free time, Kathryn enjoys musical theater. She’s also a singer who’s performed in musical theatre productions, including an opera.

I provide individualized, evidence-based care, working together with a multispecialty team. We empower patients and their loved ones through education and support.
