Kristopher Schroeder, MD is a UW Health anesthesiologist and a professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He provides anesthesia care for patients with acute pain.

Dr. Schroeder specializes in treating patients with acute pain resulting from trauma or surgical interventions. He provides acute pain medication, regional anesthesia and perioperative (before, during and after) pain management to reduce pain. His goal is to decrease the use and impact of opioid analgesics.

Dr. Schroeder believes patient education is important and takes time to educate his patients and their families on the treatment options available and the impact those treatments may have on their recovery.

In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Schroeder serves as interim vice chair of education and vice chair of faculty development in the Department of Anesthesiology. Hhe also conducts research evaluating the aspects of perioperative pain management and patient education.

In his free time, Dr. Schroeder enjoys writing and spending time with his family and friends.

I continue to see the perioperative period as an opportunity to make a profound and lasting impact on the recovery path of our patients.
