Lisa Kruse, MD

About

Lisa Kruse, MD, is a UW Health orthopedic hand surgeon who specializes in hand surgery and microsurgery. She diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow in patients of all ages. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Kruse treats congenital (present from birth) disorders, sports injuries and other bone, muscle and tissue disorders. These include trauma, fractures, nerve injuries and arthritis-related pain and complications.

Dr. Kruse offers specialized care for nerve conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome (affecting the hand and wrist) and cubital tunnel syndrome (affecting the inner elbow). These syndromes can cause pain, numbness or tingling due to compressed nerves, inflammation and swelling.

Taking a personalized approach to care, Dr. Kruse educates her patients about their conditions and treatment options. She takes time to get to know patients and help them make decisions about the best therapies to fit their symptoms, lifestyle and goals. She works with athletic trainers, exercise and physical therapists, trauma experts and other specialists to develop care plans tailored to specific needs.

Outside of work, Dr. Kruse enjoys spending time with her family and participating in triathlons.

It’s rewarding to offer effective procedures with quick recovery times. It can be life-changing for people to get back to doing things they haven't been able to do for a while.
