Mary Ehlenbach, MD, is a pediatrician at UW Health Kids. In 2014 she cofounded the Pediatric Complex Care Program where she continues to serve as the medical director, Dr. Ehlenbach cares for hospitalized children with complex medical needs. She enjoys developing long-term relationships with patients and their families and offers patient- and family-centered care and shared decision-making.
In addition to her clinical practice, she is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where she also serves as director of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
Dr. Ehlenbach strives to optimize her patients’ health, well-being and experience of care and is committed to promoting an environment of inclusion, accessibility, equity, and anti-racism both at UW Health Kids and the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Ehlenbach participates in research and quality improvement endeavors that enhance both the treatment and the care experience for her patients and their families and offers mentorship nationally for teams building complex care programs at their own institutions.
I think parents are the most vital part of the medical team. They know their children best, so including them as active players in medical decisions is critical.
