Matt Heckle, NP

Matt Heckle, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner in medical oncology. Matt cares for patients with solid organ cancers — including cancer of the prostate, lung, breast and colon — who experience side effects from their cancer treatments. Matt provides symptom treatment care separate from the patient’s regular primary care team.

It’s very important to Matt that his patients are involved in their own care. He advocates for open communication and establishes clear expectations regarding treatment plans. Matt also incorporates palliative care into his practice to reduce the suffering his patients experience. He is dedicated to helping them navigate their treatments while minimizing side effects.

Recognizing the importance of working together, Matt ensures everyone is on the same page with treatments. He encourages his patients to express their concerns openly and honestly, enabling him to provide the best care possible. Matt works with his patients’ primary care teams to coordinate treatments effectively, ensuring that no part of their care is overlooked.

Outside of the clinic, Matt enjoys art and traveling.

My goal is to reduce the burden of a cancer diagnosis on my patient’s physical and mental health.
