About

Matthew Blum, MD, MHS, is a UW Health nephrologist (kidney doctor) and assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He treats patients who have a wide range of kidney diseases, including kidney stones, electrolyte disorders, high blood pressure, glomerular (kidney filtering) problems and other chronic kidney disorders.

Dr. Blum uses a patient-centered approach to care. He listens closely to their concerns and helps them understand their conditions and treatment options. He believes in honoring patients’ values and preferences throughout their treatment journey and uses shared decision-making to find the best care plans to fit their needs.

In addition to his clinical practice and teaching role, Dr. Blum studies how the environment, such as exposure to pollution and climate change, affects people with kidney disease.

In his free time, Dr. Blum enjoys being outdoors, hiking and spending time with family.

I am excited to offer our patients the latest therapies to slow the progression of their kidney disease.
