About

Mihai Mititelu, MD, MPH, is a UW Health ophthalmologist and medical retina specialist who treats patients with eye conditions and diseases. Dr. Mititelu is the medical director of the University of Wisconsin Clinical Eye Research Unit (CERU) and serves as the principal investigator on a multitude of clinical trials that address the latest diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for retinal disease.

He often sees patients with age-related macular degeneration (vision loss), diabetic retinopathy (a diabetes complication that affects the eyes) and retinal vascular occlusions (blocked blood vessels in the eyes). He also performs in-office procedures, including intraocular injections (injecting medicine into the eye) and laser surgery. Dr. Mititelu is an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Mititelu enjoys establishing a good relationship with his patients. Many of his patients experience chronic conditions that require long-term care. Dr. Mititelu strives to listen carefully to his patients and works with them to create a treatment plan that provides the best outcomes.

In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Mititelu participates in research related to retinal disease.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mititelu enjoys spending time with his young son.

I feel very fortunate to help my patients maintain their eyesight and improve their quality of life.
