Nassima Baba-Ahmed Fertikh, MD, is a UW Health neurologist who specializes in neuromuscular medicine. She is also a clinical associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Neurology.
Dr. Baba-Ahmed Fertikh sees patients who have diseases of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The PNS is the part of the nervous system that helps send messages between the body and the brain. She treats a variety of PNS conditions and has a special focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Dr. Baba-Ahmed Fertikh works to build strong relationships based on trust and collaboration and takes time to listen and get to know her patients. She believes listening to her patients is vital to making the correct diagnosis. Dr. Baba-Ahmed Fertikh teaches them about their conditions and treatment options. She partners with her patients to make informed health care decisions.
Dr. Baba-Ahmed Fertikh feels that the collaborative, multidisciplinary care provided at UW Health is essential for her patients’ well-being and for supporting their families.
Outside of work, Dr. Baba-Ahmed Fertikh is passionate about children’s education. She serves as principal at an Islamic Sunday School.
