Nicole Schneider, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner who specializes in endocrinology. She cares for people of all ages who have diabetes and other endocrine disorders. The endocrine system involves the glands and organs that make hormones and help the body function properly.
Nicole treats Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, pregestational diabetes (in women who had diabetes before pregnancy) and gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy).
She also treats obesity, thyroiditis (inflammation of the thyroid gland) and hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). Nicole cares for people with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid. She also treats polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormone imbalance that affects the ovaries.
Nicole understands personally that diabetes and other chronic conditions can affect a person’s entire life and well-being — she’s lived with diabetes since age 18. During visits, Nicole provides holistic, individualized care. She answers questions, provides education and offers emotional support. She oversees medication adjustments and works to prevent complications. Nicole’s goal is to help people manage their disorders successfully and not let the disease dictate their entire lives.
I’m here to help patients and families live a healthy life with diabetes and other chronic health conditions. I believe diabetes should fit into the patient’s lifestyle rather than change a patient’s lifestyle to fit their diabetes.
