Philip Carlson-Dexter, MD

Philip Carlson-Dexter, MD, is a UW Health family medicine doctor. He cares for patients of all ages through all stages of life — from birth through adult and elderly care.  He specializes in complex medical management of acute (short-term) and chronic (ongoing) diseases.

In addition to preventive health, wellness checks and screening, Dr. Carlson-Dexter diagnoses and treats a wide variety of conditions. He offers medical and surgical therapies for skin disorders, infections and injuries. He also treats acute illnesses, pain disorders and many chronic or complex diseases.

Dr. Carlson-Dexter has education and certification in mental health and addiction. He evaluates and treats children and adults with depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

For his patients’ convenience, Dr. Carlson-Dexter performs medical and surgical procedures in the office when possible. These procedures include skin biopsies, joint injections, nerve blocks, wound closure, circumcision and minor plastic surgery for congenital (present at birth) conditions.

In his free time, Dr. Carlson-Dexter enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking and reading science-fiction novels.

There is nothing I enjoy more than helping patients through difficult times and seeing the outcome of our hard work together.
