Rebecca (Becky) Steinmetz, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner. Becky cares for children with asthma, coughing, cystic fibrosis, wheezing or other unexplained lung symptoms. She also cares for children who were born preterm and need supplemental oxygen or who have breathing problems.
Becky has a special clinical interest in cystic fibrosis. She finds it rewarding to care for children with the genetic disorder as she follows their journey from diagnosis through management and into adulthood. Becky believes in open communication and listening. When she sees a new patient, the first thing she’ll do is ask them lots of questions about their symptoms, family, lifestyle and goals. She takes the time to understand what’s most important to that patient and their family, so she can tailor her treatment plan to meet those priorities as closely as possible.
Outside of work, Becky enjoys spending time with her young son, hiking, running and taking their dog on walks.
I love meeting kids and their parents and talking about their goals. We work as a team to piece together the puzzle of their symptoms and figure out what’s going on with them.
