Robert Hegeman, MD, is a medical oncologist at UW Health and an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care. He treats a variety of cancers, including malignant (cancerous) and benign (non-cancerous) blood conditions.
Dr. Hegeman enjoys meeting new people and believes good communication with patients and their families is a crucial part of the health care relationship. He also likes the challenge of caring for and treating different cancers and blood disorders.
Dr. Hegeman participates in clinical research for a variety of cancer types at the Carbone Cancer Center.
In his free time, Dr. Hegeman enjoys spending time with his wife and seven children and reading an actual newspaper every day. He also likes hiking, live music, college basketball, dining out, interesting conversations, DIY (do it yourself) work on old houses and walking to work.
I have always been fascinated by the sciences in general, and particularly the wonderful and amazing machine that is our human body.
