Ryan McDonald, MD, is a UW Health obstetrician and gynecologist and a clinical associate professor the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. McDonald cares for women throughout their lifespan with an emphasis on collaborative and wellness-focused care.
Dr. McDonald treats conditions such as endometriosis (a uterine tissue abnormality), heavy uterine bleeding, infertility and other women’s health concerns. He offers preventive care and education, as well as medical and surgical treatments for many diseases and disorders.
As Dr. McDonald offers comprehensive care for mothers and babies, before, during and after delivery. His services include specialized care for high-risk pregnancies and advanced neonatal care for newborns.
In addition to his clinical practice and faculty roles, Dr. McDonald conducts research to advance care for women and children. He collaborates with other researchers to study the role of pregnancy health in early childhood development. His clinical and research interests include studying and preventing the effects of substance abuse during pregnancy.
In his free time, Dr. McDonald enjoys hiking, camping, downhill skiing and spending time with his children and family.
